Three Decades of Care in the Village

Cohasset Village Dentistry was founded by Dr. Barry C. Tufts, who built the practice from a single operatory into a trusted South Shore dental home over 35 years.

In 2021, Dr. Tufts passed the practice to Dr. Ben and Dr. Sara Trottier, who continue the same patient-centered standard of care — getting to know every patient personally and partnering with them on treatment from a comfort, functional, and financial perspective. Our staff has remained steady for years, so the familiar faces who greet you are the same ones who see your care through.

Frequently Asked Questions

You should have your teeth checked and cleaned at least twice a year, though your dentist or dental hygienist may recommend more frequent visits. Regular exams include a medical history review, diagnostic x-rays, oral cancer screening, gum disease evaluation, tooth decay examination, restoration checks, plaque/calculus removal, and hygiene recommendations.

Three main approaches are available: professional teeth whitening (at-home custom trays or in-office treatment), replacing old restorations with composite fillings, crowns, or porcelain veneers, and invisible orthodontics using customized clear aligners to gradually and subtly shift teeth into an ideal position.

Three replacement options exist: dental implants (surgically placed artificial roots), fixed bridges (cemented to adjacent teeth), and dentures (removable artificial teeth). Each has distinct advantages regarding stability, appearance, and cost.

We fabricate a custom-made guard that patients wear on either the top or bottom teeth, usually only while they sleep, to prevent tooth wear, recession, microfractures, and joint discomfort.

For pain or swelling, call our office immediately. For a lost tooth, handle only the crown, rinse it gently with saliva or milk, attempt to reinsert it, and get to a dentist as soon as possible — ideally within 30 minutes. Our doctors are available for emergencies 24/7.
